The Woman of the Year program has been sponsored by Lombard Service League since 1965. Local residents, business and organizations are invited to honor a distinguished Lombard woman for her time, talents and services to benefit others in the community through service to family, church or organizations. Each nominee must reside at a Lombard mailing address and each letter of nomination must be 500 words or less. Judging for Lombard's Woman of the Year is done by at least three anonymous Lombard community leaders and volunteers who are chosen annually by the club committee.

Mary Beth Lynch has been a Lombard resident for almost 50 years. She is a mom of 5, grandmother of 10 and a great-grandmother of 2. As a middle child, she grew up pleasing people and somewhat a servant to those around. This made her want to step up and help wherever she saw a need. She did many odd jobs as a young mom, so she could be around her children. She was involved in her children’s school, their activities, and church. She went into Real Estate when her oldest child was 21 and her youngest was still in a car seat and she has been blessed with success ever since.
She joined the Kiwanis Club of Lombard, whose motto is “Children Priority One”. As a club member, she loved all the activities done around the community. With her help a class act called “Housewalk” was founded and lasted for 18 years. Kiwanis is dear to her heart. She has also served as a Director and Co-Chair to the Lilac Ball at the Lombard Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Garden Club and recently joined the Lombard Service League.
Church, her faith and her Savior are a huge part of her life. She has had a Bible study at her home for over 30 years, and she has also been a high school youth group helper. She has been on 18 mission trips, and she hopes to go again this year. She encourages everyone to read the Bible, as she believes is the best book written that shows how to live and know God. The kids in her church call her “Mama Lynch”.
